A Reaper's Silver Lifeline

Then i fell to my knees; to my death. The world spun about me at an amazing speed, but i didn't care. It felt right... and i was finally at peace.
Chapter One
That night, the air smelled of cherry blossoms and wintry dreams as the thoughts of Christmas hold captive the sleepless children in their beds. All around the city, houses came alive. Windows speckled with greens and reds, laughter and singing could be heard riding on the night's wind. Families gathered around fireplaces, sharing in the joy of the season. On Ceasil Ln, however, one house stood still.
The door hung open, its golden hinges locked in place. The orange glow from the fire burning endlessly and the television still played her favorite show. Her pale blue eyes are open, fixated on the wall infront of her, and yet not seeing anything at all. Her long dark hair framed her porcelain face and her arms lay limp at her sides. Her lifeless body sits elegantly in a sea of crimson.
She seemed so at peace.
Peace, i thought. Oh, how i envied her.
I felt the tears start to come, but i fought them back, as i always do. "Balance," i thought, "For one to win, another must lose. It's all about balance...." (To be continued in the next issue)
